La Loma was an original one-character play written Resident Playwright Christopher Wood for me. Woods based La Loma on his own experience when he and two friends were unjustly held in a Mexican prison close to the Texas border. The play had its World Premiere at the Stage Two Theater in Waukegan, Illinois, on November 6, 1990 to open it’s sixth season. The world premiere was directed by Norma Cribb. It toured the country and I reprised my role ending the tour in Los Angeles, California in an eight week run beginning on January 30, 1992.
The the West Coast Premiere in Los Angeles was directed by Paul Fagan, Production Designed by Douglas D. Smith and Stage Managed by Robert Drake. The play garnered rave reviews and won many awards culminating in three Dramalogue Awards in Los Angeles for Outstanding Achievement in Performance, Outstanding Achievement in Direction and Outstanding Achievement in Scenic Design.
