Tracking Shot

For me the TRACKING SHOT refers to any shot in which the camera follows a subject within the frame, such as an actor or a moving vehicle.  There is movement.  It does not involve the use of a camera dolly, or cart or a wheel chair.  It is handheld or uses a Steadicam.  Again, this is my interpretation as to keep the dolly shot and TRACKING SHOT separate.

There are two TRACKING SHOTS here. The first TRACKING SHOTS are from HEAT by Michael Mann and really well done.  Watch how even the POV shots in the section with DeNiro are moving or TRACKING as well.  The second one is from the film BIRTH that opens the that movie and utilizes a camera mounted on a truck.
