Deconstructing Raging Bull Lecture

RB-Lecture-Thumbnail

I had the privilege to lecture on one of my favorite films, RAGING BULL for National University’s Film As Art class.  I want to thank Christopher Lockhart for allowing me to speak to his class.  Having forgotten how much this film had influenced me, it was a thrill to share my thoughts and discuss this modern classic with the students.  Here are my notes from that lecture.

Lecture Notes

Martin Scorsese’s RAGING BULL has always been one of my favorites. This scene is about 95 minutes into the film and I think it should be studied by all filmmakers because of its use of sound, camera technique and amazing symbolism. Even though it’s a boxing scene it has so much going on. We will deconstruct this scene through my commentary.
